Residential

Bonapartes' Retreat

This understated but elegant home sits on a spectacular site with a two acre pond, a stream, and a private valley setting. The owner was inspired by traditional Western North Carolina Residential Architecture, particularly the tobacco barns of Buncombe County.

Working closely with the owner and the builders we fashioned a straight forward house with spacious decks and a clear and direct connection to the grounds and gardens of this magnificent place. By keeping the forms simple and easy to construct we were able to fashion a home that respects its' mountain predecessors, is affordable to build, and sits comfortably on the land.
