Green Span

The first of two homes for a repeat client, this home in beautiful Montreat, North Carolina takes full advantage of its' close-in village site. We worked with the clients to evaluate several different lots in Montreat, finally settling on this lot with views and a short walk to town. The owners' program called for a place for large extended family gatherings and a place similar families may wish to rent for their own reunions, etc.

The design fits seven (yes seven!) bedrooms plus two lofts on three levels. This totally handicap accessible home is a mere 2500 square feet and was built for around $100 per square foot - an unrepeatable value. Apparently the owners found the project agreeable as they hired our firm to design another year round family home in Charleston, South Carolina.

The name Green Span is a play on the owners' affection for a certain Chairman of the Federal Reserve whom they credit with their ability to afford this house.
