Libraries

Life is short, Art long
Hippocrates

The key ingredients for successful library design are a rare combination of experience and humility by both the designers and the librarians.  Experience is required to create a lasting and economical response to programmatic needs, site, budget, codes, etc. Humility is necessary to be mindful that no matter how good a job we do in responding to a library's needs today, the future will bring another challenge or opportunity; we must design flexibility into the design to be as open to this inevitable change as possible. Libraries are high performance conduits and presenters of a vibrant culture's productivity; technology will continue to affect how this important role is played.
